6 Cigar-Related Costume Ideas

Whether for Halloween, New Year’s or just for fun, costume parties will require you to find a unique, spooky or funny dress-up idea!

If you’re reading this, then we presume you are a cigar lover! As a cigar lover, you may want to pick a costume of a character known for their stogie smoking, so that you have an excuse for smoking cigars all night long (or at least holding one to appreciate the aroma)!

To give you some inspiration for your next fancy dress costume, we’ve compiled some characters and costume ideas that involve a cigar in some way!

Tony Montana

The iconic lead role in Scarface, mob boss Tony Montana is seen with a cigar in hand throughout the classic film. It’s also a pretty easy costume to pull off, as you’ll just need a suit, draw a scar on your cheek and bring along a Cohiba cigar!

The Man With No Name

Another iconic cigar-smoking role comes in the form of Clint Eastwood’s The Man With No Name from the Dollars Trilogy. Famous for one of the greatest on-screen standoffs, The Man With No Name is seen smoking small cigars throughout the films, particularly at tense moments!

This is a pretty easy costume to recreate – you can find cowboy fancy dress quite readily online and in costume stores! You’ll need a cowboy hat, poncho, toy gun and, of course, a cigarillo or thin cigar!

If you’re willing to go all-out on your costume, then Hellboy could be an incredible option! You’ll either need to find a Hellboy mask or get your hands on a vat of red face paint. Wear black jeans and a black t-shirt and layer with a long coat, like a long leather jacket or a thick trench coat.

Finish off the look with a hefty smoke!

Another cigar-smoking comic book hero comes in the form of Wolverine. For the simplest look, you can wear a white vest with jeans and a leather jacket. Complete the look by either growing out or painting on some facial hair!

Keep a cigar in your pocket to be whipped out in a dramatic moment – Wolverine always seems to find an explosion to light his cigar with!

To add another layer to your costume, find some Wolverine costume claws to make the outfit more obvious.

Groucho Marx

This cigar-smoking funnyman is an ideal option for a costume party – not least because his look has already inspired a popular costume!

The Groucho glasses – a pair of glasses that feature a large plastic nose, big eyebrows and a moustache – were created to resemble the comedian Groucho Marx (or at least the way he dressed for the stage and screen). For a super easy costume, you can get a pair of these and spend the night enjoying a cigar.

If you’d rather work on the costume yourself, then wear a tux and use greasepaint to add on brows and a moustache!

Gomez Addams

A perfect costume for Halloween made all the better with the inclusion of a luxurious cigar. Dress as Gomez Addams for a creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky costume option.

Pop on a pinstriped suit, slick back your hair and add on a pencil-thin moustache to emulate the patriarch of the Addams Family.

Gomez is seen smoking a cigar on a number of occasions, and seems to prefer long cigars!
