festival del habano

This is the 22nd year of the Festival Del Habano, with this huge event on the cigar lover’s calendar now attracting over 2,000 people. As well as offering a range of exhibits, seminars and tours relating to the cigar industry, one of the key highlights of the festival is the announcement of upcoming releases.

Romeo y Julieta

Celebrating their 145th anniversary this year, the showcase brand at this year’s Festival Del Habano was Romeo y Julieta. To commemorate this anniversary, the brand will be releasing the Romeo y Julieta Línea de Oro, which features golden cigar bands and comes in three sizes.

Each cigar in this line has a particularly hefty ring gauge: Dianas, which measures 5 11/16 inches with a 52 ring gauge; Hidalgos, which measures 4 15/16 inches with a 57 ring gauge; and Nobles, a torpedo cigar which measures 5 5/16 inches with a 56 ring gauge.

The Romeo y Julieta Línea de Oro will be available in boxes of 20.

This year is the 85th anniversary of Montecristo and to mark the occasion they will be releasing the Herederos; a 6 3/8 inches cigar with a ring gauge of 47. The Herederos will be presented in a commemorative humidor as a 20-count box.

Another big anniversary year is for Partagás, who have been producing cigars for 175 years. They will be releasing an elaborate humidor full of 50 Tropicales cigars, which measure 6 7/8 inches with a 54 ring gauge.

These are pretty large cigars, making them worthy of the anniversary celebration! There will only be 450 humidors released, so these are a limited edition that are likely to be in high demand!

Partagás Edición Limitada

Usually, Habanos S.A. select three Edición Limitada cigars to release this year, but in 2020, they have decided that the Partagás Legado Edición Limitada 2020 is good enough to stand alone as the sole limited-edition release!

The cigar measures 6 3/16 inches with a 48 ring gauge. The Legado is made with tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region of Pinar del Rio, which is aged for at least two years. The Partagás Legado will be sold in boxes of 25.

The Reserva release for 2020 comes from the brand Bolivar, who will be introducing us to the Belicosos Finos Reserva Cosecha 2016. This cigar measures 5 ½ inches with a 52 ring gauge, which is the same as the regular Bolivar Belicosos Finos.

However, what makes this edition special is the use of tobacco from the 2016 harvest from the Vuelta Abajo region. The cigars will be packaged in a box of 20 and will each feature the black and silver Reserva band as a secondary band.
