The 007 Cigar Selection
The infamous James Bond needs an infamous cigar selection. The 007 Cigar selection includes some the most versatile cigars that are great for many occassions. Cubans and non-Cubans, full bodied cigars and mild smokes, even long smokes and short smokes. All the following cigars have a license to thrill.
In The World is not Enough (1999) Bond finally gets the chance to enjoy a cigar, in the pre-title scene, when he is offered a Romeo Y Julieta Churchill in the Swiss bank in Bilbao. But in the end, he doesn’t seem to have time to even light it. The fact that the Swiss banker, who smokes a Churchill as well, holds on to it, even after falling on the ground and held at gunpoint, shows how good these cigars really are.
Ramon Allones Specially Selected – A full flavoured, full strength, spicy and woody tasting cigar. Although the Ramon Allones is full strength it is never aggressive and the aroma is more subtle than one would expect.
Hoyo De Monterrey Epicure No.2 – It lacks the strength of the Cohibas, but it is superior to the Upmanns. Mild flavours at first, blended nicely into a complex finish. Excellent smoke!
Ashton VSG Illusion – The VSG is blended exclusively for Ashton by Carlos Fuente Jr. using 4 to 5 year old aged Dominican tobacco taken from the finest and most fertile plants. The distinct flavor of VSG comes from its wrapper grown on a private estate in Ecuador owned by the Oliva family where this proprietary wrapper leaf is grown for the Fuente family exclusively for Ashton VSG.
La Galera Habano Chaveta – Well known for growing well-regarded tobacco and producing acclaimed cigars, José “Jochy” Blanco of Tabacalera Palma had never had his own brand, one that bore his name and the name of his family’s factory, until just recently.
When Blanco acquired the Indianhead brand in October 2015, he said that it would also spur the release of his first brand, a pair of blends released under the La Galera brand. Both would use a Dominican corojo binder with a filler blend of Dominican piloto cubano, criollo 98 and pelo de oro, with one blend getting an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper and the other getting an Ecuadorian habano wrapper. With the exception of the wrappers, all the tobacco was grown by Blanco.
El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme – Is the classic Robusto format, shaken not stirred and delightful. The El Rey is a sensible, light bodied cigar, packed with plenty of cedar, leather and charcoal flavours…with a dash of black pepper more noticeably there as the smoke progresses. Great for any occasion. A real licence to thrill.
