The Montecristo brand hold numerous records in the cigar world, the No.4 is the best selling cigar there ever has been, the No.2 is the gold standard cigar the best the world has ever seen, and the Montecristo No.5 cigar is the shortest cigar coming out of Cuba. Perhaps one of the stoutest cigars you will ever see, only 10cm long but with a ring gauge of 40! This makes for a very intense cigar, certainly one to try.

OK I’ll admit I am a Montecristo fan – a Monte No 4 was my first ever cigar when younger. I’ve had many a year away from cigars and wanted something shorter yet familiar as its a name I trust. Quite simply the first one was 25 mins of heaven. Well made, even draw that is just right. Flavours of dark chocolate/ cocoa that, amazingly lasted all the way through with no sharp ending. Yet again (in my mind) Monte has laid down a very high bar. I was worried that a shorter cigar would have flavour or draw issues but none of these happened to me. Arrived in perfect condition. I should lay them down in the humidor but I’m just not sure they’ll be around for long. Paired with a Highland Park 18yr old for the second and well, it just gets better. For a short after dinner smoke or a sneaky lunchtime break (aaah the joys of home working) these are spot on, I am truly smitten 🙂
