Yoichi Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 45%)
Nikka’s Yoichi distillery is located on the coast of Hokkaido, the northernmost island of Japan. Crafted using traditional methods, such as direct coal-fired distillation. It’s malt whiskies reflect the authentic character of the exceptional location, with its refined coastal and peat notes. This single malt bottling expresses a subtle balance between, fruity and floral aromas.
Colour: Vibrant Gold
Nose: Full bodied and smooth. A mellow peat softly coars the aromatic palette at first, growing more powerful with time, as smoke, soot and salty notes transcend the initial nose. The aromas then evolve towards candied citrus fruit, black liquorice and spices. The final third is opened up with roots and dried twigs. Heady and floral.
Palate: Firm and powerful. A well-balanced attack gives equal footing to aromas of peat, smoke, spices, fresh fruit and nuts which it delivers in spades.
Finish: Long and silky, extremely mature and overflowing with ripe pear and herbicious.
