Scallywag Speyside Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
Scallywag Speyside Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is a new addition to the infamous Douglas Laing range. Constructed from a blend of speyside malts including Mortlach, Macallan and Glenrothes aged in a combination of sherry and bourbon casks for a rich and complex taste. A true pedigree whisky, much like the wire haired fox terrier featured on the front of the bottle of the casing. Other than creating fine whisky, the Laing family has also aided the development of this classically British breed.
Christmas: This whisky would be a great gift for those who are fond of both canine comapanions and strong liquer. Additionally, the warm fruity notes would go perfectly with a christmas pudding!
Nose: Sweet and grainy on the nose, with freshly milled malt, porridge made with water, lemon zest, orange peel, redcurrants and a hint of woody spice.
Palate: Soft and oily, with some spice on the front of the tongue and developing richness – more porridge, tangy lemon sherbert, lemon bonbons, stewed apples with cinnamon, caraway seeds and a hint of sour fruit.
Finish: Medium-length with apples, apple skin, spice and pastry cases.
Comment: Youthful with fruity base – a combination of apples and citrus that provide a good contrast to the malt character at the heart of the whisky.
