Cigar Review: Silencio Los Rios Robusto

Produced in the Dominican Republic, Silencio Los Rios Robusto is characterised by an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper, a San Andres sub-wrapper, and a tripe blend comprising Mata Fina from Brazil, Olor and Piloto from the Dominican Republic, and Jalapa from Nicaragua. This composition gives it a particularly high quality, fittingly representative of General Cigars premium cigars.

In the USA, these cigars are generally marketed under the name of the famous Cuban brand “Cohiba”, while in Europe they are all marketed under the name “Silencio”.

The Beginning

The cigars taste just like the aroma they produce. Each puff hits the palate with floral and herbal notes, creating a profile that is reminiscent of Cuban cigars.

The Middle

The flavours have mellowed, and the aftertaste has become sweet and sour. There is still a pleasant coffee flavour with hints of liquorice and cinnamon. The aftertaste resembles cinnamon and coffee with some added sweetness. So far, so good.

The End

No change at all in profile or strength from the first puff to the last one.

Burn & Draw

The burn was razor-sharp throughout, never needing a touch-up or relight, and it stayed lit even when left for a few minutes. The draw was slightly looser than I typically prefer, but it was still very manageable and might suit others’ preferences better.

Overall

This cigar offers a one-dimensional smoke for me, but it’s very easy to enjoy with a nice flavour. I believe it’s a cigar you can enjoy at any time of the day.

Therefore, it is fitting that this edition of 1866 Solera Gran Reserva Spanish brandy is a collaboration with Swedish artist Emma Lindström. Drawing inspiration from the brandy’s rich hue, Lindström has utilized her signature “pouring” or fluid art technique to design limited edition labels and packaging.
