Part of the iconic Habanos wheelhouse, Hoyo de Monterrey is a proud Cuban cigar manufacturer with roots going back to the 1860s.
Hoyo de Monterrey was created by Spanish immigrant José Gener. The brand gets its name from its original plantation in the famous tobacco-growing region of Vuelta Abajo. Hoyo translates as ‘Hole’ and refers to the plantation’s low-lying position by the river.
The Hoyo de Monterrey plantation is one of the most famous in the region, and the brand previously had one of Cuba’s biggest factories. Always ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ (handmade with long filler), Hoyo de Monterrey is a great choice for anyone seeking an authentic Cuban cigar.
