The History of Davidoff Grand Cru Cigars
Davidoff is one of the most iconic names in the world of cigars, a company that defines luxury, sophistication and refinement. Founded by the legendary Zino Davidoff following the Second World War and nowadays operating out of the Dominican Republic, the company is responsible for producing some of the most recognisable and sought-after cigars anywhere in the world.
As well as its quality, Davidoff also produces one of the largest ranges of cigars in the world, with dozens of successful lines. One of their oldest and most famous is the Grand Cru, a collection initially designed by the great founder himself.
Grand Cru cigars are inspired by Zino Davidoff’s love of wine, and are created in a similar way to the Bordeauxs that inspire this blend. For Grand Cru, tobaccos from three carefully selected terroirs (or soils) are blended, each heightening the other’s aromas; this process mirrors that used to create the finest red wines that Zino adored.
Davidoff Grand Cru Cigar Taste Profile
As with most Davidoff cigars, the Grand Cru is on the milder side of cigar strengths; also, it’s a bit more mild-medium compared to other Davidoffs.
Just as with a fine red wine, expect plenty of nuanced aromas with a Grand Cru as Davidoff’s famous creamy sweetness blends with flowery and wheaty notes. Its mild strength makes it great for novice smokers, while Davidoff fans will enjoy exploring the nuanced sweetness in a Grand Cru.
