Cohiba Cigars

Cohiba is the flagship brand of Habanos and is considered one of the greatest cigar brands in the world. Cohiba cigars offer a complex smoke that is medium to full in body.

The name ‘Cohiba’ is taken from the ancient Taino Indian word for the bunches of tobacco leaves that were smoked in Cuba, as early forms of cigars.

How Are Cohiba Cigars Made?

Renowned for producing some of the finest quality cigars available, such as the Behike 56, Cohiba uses unique maturation techniques to create their famous cigars. The tobacco is grown in the Vuelta Abajo region and goes through an extensive fermentation process to create distinctive aromas and flavours that have made Cohiba so popular.

Are Cohiba Cigars Cuban?

Cohiba is a Cuban cigar brand – in fact, they are the flagship brand of Habanos S.A., the Cuban organisation that oversees the country’s state-run cigar industry.

Cohiba was created in 1966 and was originally a private brand exclusively supplying Fidel Castro with cigars. To start, only heads of state and visiting diplomats were able to smoke Cohibas if they were given as gifts by Castro. Cohiba cigars were first released for public sale in 1982, and have since become one of the biggest brands in the cigar world.
