Brandy

At its core, brandy is a spirit distilled from fruit wine, most commonly grape wine, though it can also be made from apples, pears, cherries, and more. The name comes from the Dutch word brandewijn, meaning “burnt wine,” referencing the distillation process.

After distillation, brandy is typically aged in oak barrels, where it develops rich, complex flavours and its characteristic amber hue.

Styles of Brandy include Cognac, Armagnac and Calvados.
