Jhonys Diaz promoted to Management Team at General Cigars

One of the world’s largest makers of cigars, General Cigar Co, who have acclaimed brands Macanudo, Cohiba, Partagas, La Gloria Cubana, CAO, Punch, Hoyo de Monterrey, Excalibur and Foundry in their portfolio have promoted Jhonys Diaz to the company’s management team.

Diaz, who stays on as vice president of operations, will now also report directly to Regis Broersma, who was named the new president of the company in late 2015.

Jhonys Diaz currently oversees and manages operations and supply chain functions at General’s cigar factories in the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Nicaragua.

He joined General Cigar in 1998 with the job of operations and planning manager, tasked with improving tobacco inventory management, tobacco processing and cigar manufacturing procedures. He was promoted to general manager of operations before being promoted to vice president of operations, plus his new additional management responsibilities.

General Cigar Co.’s Director of Public Relations Victoria McKee Jaworski had this to say of the new appointment:

“Jhonys’s title remains the same: vice president of operations, he has the additional responsibility of overseeing tobacco procurement, with Ernest Gocaj, director of tobacco procurement, reporting directly to him.”

President of the company Regis Broersma further added:

”The appointment of Jhonys Diaz to the management team marks an important step for the company, it will bring even deeper connectivity among our business units, allowing us to be more nimble in meeting the needs of the marketplace. I look forward to working directly with Jhonys and to benefitting from his vast knowledge and passion for the business.”
