Brick House cigars are a well-known and well-loved cigar brand around the world. Before we get into the various Brick House cigars for sale, let’s look at the history of the brand and where its somewhat unusual name comes from.

How did Brick House cigars start?

Brick House cigars are manufactured by the J.C. Newman Cigar Company, which was founded by its namesake Julius Caeser Newman in 1895. He became a cigar apprentice at the age of just 14 and worked as journeyman cigar maker for three years.

However, during the recession he lost his job and it was at this point that he decided to start his own company. Newman’s family had arrived as immigrants to the US from Hungary around 1890, but that didn’t stop him seeing the potential for building a business.

Newman first started producing Brick House cigars with the finest Havana tobaccos, with the label on these Cuban puro cigars modelled after his childhood home: a brick house in Hungary.

However, the Great Depression of the 1920s made business difficult for Newman and this was when Newman stopped producing Brick House cigars.

When did Brick House cigars get revamped?

The J.C Newman Cigar Company has remained in the Newman family, and is now run by two of J.C Newman’s grandsons – Bobby and Eric – as well as Eric’s son Drew. This means the company has now been run by four successive generations of the family.

In 2009, Bobby and Eric decided to revive Brick House cigars. However, they chose to use Nicaraguan tobacco instead of Cuban, creating a rich blend of Nicaraguan tobaccos that have been aged in the country’s mountains.

Brick House cigars are hand-rolled in Havana Subido™ leaves and provide a premium smoking experience for excellent value.

How have Brick House cigars been received?

Brick House cigars were immediately praised on their launch and received numerous awards, among them Best Bargain Cigar and a coveted spot in the list of Top 25 Cigars by Cigar Aficionado.

More specifically, the Brick House Churchill was included in the Top 25 list and currently holds tenth position in that illustrious ranking system. This particular cigar has received a score of 93 from the site, although none of the Brick House range scores below the mid to high-80s.

In 2010, the Brick House Robusto hit 17th spot, also pushing it into the Top 25 cigars compiled by Cigar Aficionado.

In addition, the Brick House Corona Larga also occupied 17th place in that Top 25 Cigars list in 2016, indicating just how popular and consistently high-quality the cigars from this range are.

Overall, Brick House cigars are known for their approachable yet satisfying profiles. One of the biggest advantages to this particular brand of Nicaraguan cigars is that they can be enjoyed by new smokers as well as seasoned cigar connoisseurs due to their flavour profile.

We had to start with the Double Connecticut Churchill because of how well received it’s been as well as its unique flavour profile.

What makes this stand out from other cigars is that this blend features a genuine Connecticut Shade wrapper and Connecticut Broadleaf binder, both of which are grown in the US. The result is a cigar that offers something different to the standard range.

Its mild strength combined with its unusual flavour profile is what makes it a firm favourite among both seasoned cigar smokers and those who are still discovering their ideal smoke.
