What are Cuban Regional Edition Cigars?
The Regional Edition (or Edición Regional) programme was first introduced in 2005, pioneered by regional distributors such as Hunters & Frankau as a way to introduce new cigar sizes to different markets while also promoting some of Cuba’s lesser-known brands.
Regional Editions are suggested by the international distributors for sale in their markets. If Habanos S.A. likes the idea, the cigars will be produced in small quantities and given a special red band denoting their regional exclusivity.
Similar to Limited Edition Cubans (Edicion Limitadas), Cuban Regional Editions are produced in limited quantities, making these especially rare Cuban cigars. However, Regional Editions are produced by smaller Habanos brands as opposed to the major labels like Cohiba and Montecristo.
