Mombacho Cigars S.A., the company behind the ‘Tierra Volcán’ and ‘Liga Maestro’ brands of cigars are celebrating their tenth anniversary this year, and to celebrate the milestone have created a new cigar to mark the occasion. The 10th Anniversary ‘Mombacho Magnifico’ combines tobaccos from the Tierra Volcán and Liga Maestro brands, which is sure to be a huge hit with their loyal fan base.
Rolled in Granada, Nicaragua at the Casa Favilli factory, ‘Magnifico’ measures 6 1/4 inches by 52 ring gauge and should retail for around £22, though the exact price has still not been confirmed. This celebratory cigar will be limited with only 5,000 cigars being produced.
Master blender Claudio Sgroi broke the traditional rules by blending tobacco used in other lines with the ‘Magnifico’ being a Nicaraguan puro, using a shade-grown Habano visowrapper from Jalapa. The binder is a leaf of Cuban-seed criollo from Condega, and the filler blend is more criollo from Condega (but different primings), as well as Cuban-seedligeros from Jalapa.
As part of the celebration, Mombacho will also release the Liga Maestro to the U.S. market. Previously a cigar made exclusively for Italy, Liga Maestro will be available in four sizes set to retail from £8 to £18. The cigars are scheduled to reach North America on March 1 and Europe soon after.
