Davidoff cigars have added a new size to their hugely popular and award-winning Escurio, Nicaragua and Yamasá line of cigars as part of the ‘Davidoff Discovery’ series.

A brand new 6 x 60 Vitola has been added for only the second time as a wide release cigar. Back in 2013 Davidoff used the 6 x 60 format for the Davidoff Limited Edition 2014 Year of the Horse, which was also available in a Gordo format.

The new Vitola size will come in black matte lacquered wooden boxes of 12 cigars and are expected to reach UK shores at the end of August with the estimated cost per stick to be; Davidoff Yamasá 6 × 60 – £18.50, Davidoff Nicaragua 6 × 60 – £14.95, Davidoff Nicaragua Box Pressed 6 × 60 – £14.50, Davidoff Escurio 6 × 60 – £14.95.

Each customer will also receive a 6 x 60 Gordo Vitola as part of a limited-edition release with this new line expected to be hotly anticipated as only 2,250 boxes of 12 cigars will be released for each blend.

The ‘Davidoff Discovery’ series was a line of cigars that used the company’s founder, Zino Davidoff, as their inspiration for their highly skilled master blenders, led by Henke Kelner, to search out new territories which would lead to new and exciting flavours.

The Davidoff Nicaragua was the first in the series, using a Nicaraguan Habano Rosado wrapper, a binder from the Jalapa region of Nicaragua and fillers from Condega and Estelí, Nicaragua. They also released a Nicaragua Box-Pressed that uses a different wrapper, a Nicaraguan Habano Oscuro leaf.

The Davidoff Escurio was the company’s tribute to the vibrant and colourful country of Brazil, using an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Cuban-seed Brazilian binder and Brazilian Mata Fina, Cuban-seed Brazilian and Dominican fillers. This resulted in a stogie that delivers an intense, spicy-sweet palate stimulation, coupled with the signature Davidoff refinement and sophistication.

The Davidoff Yamasá is the most recent release, being introduced last year. This cigar uses a Dominican Yamasá wrapper and binder as well as a mixture of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. This cigar proved to be the most difficult as it was billed as ‘the impossible dream’ of Henke Kelner who wanted to change the unforgiving swampland of the Yamasa region into a successful tobacco-growing field. Henke and his team relentlessly nurtured and cultivated the stubborn Yamasá soil, with them adding nitrate and calcium by hand to every single tobacco plant when they found the nutrient balance was off, caused by the excess lime and sand.
