Davidoff cigars have opened their new cigar factory this week in Honduras, replacing Davidoff’s AgroIndustrias Laepe S.A.

The new factory, named Diadema Cigars de Honduras, S.A. will be the new production site of their Camacho cigars and as such will be referred to as the “Camacho Factory”, and was constructed due to the ever increasing growth of the Camacho brand.

Davidoff first mentioned the new factory back in early 2015 when they purchased over 150 hectares, roughly 370 acres, of fertile land in Nicaragua and Honduras for farming of tobacco.

Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard, CEO and Board member of Oettinger Davidoff AG, said:

“I am proud to officially inaugurate our new factory. It is not only a milestone in the history of our company but also reflects our global “crop-to-shop” philosophy with this extension of the vertical integration of the business.

“Our investments mirror the strong growth on Camacho over the past five years which saw its global sales double, as well as the needed production capacity, to continue expanding Camacho globally.

“Furthermore, I am particularly glad that we are able to make a substantial contribution to Honduras’ economic and social development by employing over 500 people in Danlí.”

The new factory was designed by Honduran architect, Gonzalo Núñez Díaz, and has several production halls, cold rooms, loading zones, a spacious guesthouse and the refectory for employees, which all meet the highest of standards in terms of technology and logistics and measures in at 450,000 square feet in surface area with an additional area of 37,673 square feet for warehouses…they must keep those beautiful stogies somewhere!

Manuel Batista, General Director Central América, Danlí, Honduras added

“Leading and managing this splendid new factory is the greatest honour in my career thus far. In view of important future projects, combined with our focus on cost optimisation and improved working capital, this is the perfect time to consolidate and further expand the Honduran craftsmanship.

“It makes me very proud to see our team of Master Blenders and cigar artisans strive relentlessly to build up and continue to develop the business of Oettinger Davidoff worldwide. They are the ones who bring to life our finest quality cigars; thrilling aficionados across the globe.”

For those who have yet to taste the full yet subtle flavours of Camacho should pick up the two cigars below, which are not only a joy to smoke, but can also be sent straight to your door, with our handy online service, as well as being available in-store.

The Camacho Criollo Robusto has all the flavour without being overpowering since the Criollo tobacco leaf is grown at the top of a tobacco plant, making the most out of the extra rays of sun.

This allows the tobacco to have a hint of spice that compliments the mellow sweetness, which is a classic characteristic of the Camacho range, with its spicy-sweet undertones. There is a lot to look forward to when lighting this cigar and the draw is simply perfect; you can savour the flavour all day long if you choose to do so!

Camacho Corojo Robusto Tubos Cigar

The Camacho Corojo Robusto is often considered an authentic classic smoke, with the tobacco coming from the famed Cuban Corojo tobacco seed, with the finished tobacco aged like a fine wine or whisky, resulting in pure, refined and flavourful smoking sensation. No other blend can claim the true character and authenticity of history’s most cherished tobacco leaf.
