Davidoff are releasing their new limited edition ‘Art Cigar 2016’

Davidoff have launched, for the 2^nd time, its ‘Limited Art Edition Cigar’ at Art Basel in Switzerland this week.

This unique collaboration was with Jamaican-French artist Olivia McGilchrist, in which The Davidoff Limited Art Edition 2016 consists of a cigar edition limited to 7,000 unique boxes, with each box featuring a one of a kind still extracted from Olivia McGilchrist’s video ‘From many sides’.

Each box will contain 10 perfecto cigars that use an Ecuadorian wrapper with a Dominican Piloto binder. The filler tobacco is comprised of Dominican Piloto Visus, San Vicente Mejorado Seco, Mejorado and Yamasá Seco.

Retail prices have not yet been announced but if The 2014 Art Edition prices are to go by we should be looking at £30-40 a box.

As well as the standard limited edition set there will also be a ‘Collector’s Edition’ that consists of one of sixteen numbered editions of the commissioned video, a cigar box featuring a unique still image from the video, and a signed certificate by the artist that will also be released at Art Basel. Lucky visitors to Art Basel will also have the chance to immerse themselves in a 3D virtual reality video piece by McGilchrist.

Part of the money generated by the Davidoff Limited Art Edition 2016 will be used to sustain the Davidoff Art Initiative and supporting artists from the Caribbean.
