Exciting New Releases Announced By Habanos S.A.

Each year Habanos S.A. bring a sense of excitement to cigar aficionados around the world as they announce the products they have set to release over the coming year. Following the Habanos Festival this week, we now know what’s to come in 2018:

First up is the Romeo y Julieta Grand Churchills, which measures 7 ½ inches in length, with a ring gauge size of 56. Romeo y Julieta’s new offering will be available in a 100-count humidor, which has been designed by Elie Bleu.

The flagship release of this year’s festival comes in the form of the new Cohiba Robusto Reserva Cosecha 2014. The year 2014 added at the end of this cigars name is in reference to the particular harvest year from which the tobacco was gathered. This is the first Reserva for the Cohiba brand since its 2003 Reserva Cosecha. What makes this cigar so unique is that every single leaf used to make it, namely the filler and binder, has been aged over a three-year-long process. Only a limited number of these cigars have been produced, with only 5000 numbered boxes on offer, each containing twenty sticks. The Cohiba Robusto Reserva will measure 4 7/8 x 50, the same measurements as the ever popular Cohiba Robusto.

The festival also saw the launch of two new additions to the Partagas Linea Maduro line, with two new vitolas, both featuring Maduro wrappers, joining the pre-existing Maduro No 1. Aptly titled Maduro No 2 (4 ¾ x 55)  and Maduro No 3 (5 ¾ x 50), the two cigars feature the signature Maduro style, with the longer fermentation time of the tobacco bringing a strong blend and a dark wrapper. While many of the cigars announced at the festival are limited edition, or only produced in a small batch, these Maduro’s will be joining the regular line up of the Partagas portfolio.

Hoyo de Monterrey also got a moment to shine at the festival, with the launch of their brand new vitola Le Hoyo Rio Seco, which is 5 ½ inches in length with a ring size of 56. This is a pretty hefty ring gauge, so it is joining the Le Hoyo range at the heavier end of their line, as such sizes have yet to be represented until now.

The Edicion Limitadas for the year were also announced. These are cigars which use the brands associated with Habanos S.A., yet release vitolas which are not of the standard sizes used by those brands. This year’s Edicion Limitadas include the Romeo y Julieta Tacos Edicion Limitada 2018, which measures 6 6/10 x 49, the Bolivar Soberanos Edicion Limitada 2018, measuring 5 ½ x 54, and the H. Upmann Propios Edicion Limitada 2018, at 4 ¾ x 46.
