Sir Winston Churchill was a man who rejected convention; he found the spark to his creativity during the darkest hours when most people were thinking of getting into bed.

Randolph Churchill, Sir Winston Churchill’s great-grandson said this about the man and his nocturnal habits.

So, the late hours and the dark hours were when Churchill was his most productive in life. And he was never without a cigar.”

We think the new cigar range reflects those long hours put into hard work. The cigar contains tobacco that has been aged for no less than six months in some of the grandest Scotch single malt whisky casks available. This has never been done before.

The tobacco, therefore, starts to intertwine with aromas from inside the cask and, of course, the remnants of the whisky. This combination of ageing lends to the unique flavour of the smoke.

Like Churchill’s get it done, no bells and whistles attitude, the cigar only comes in three basic sizes. A Robusto 52×5”, Toro 54×6” and of course for the longest smoke the Churchill 48×7”.

Let’s talk about the body; cask aged Nicaraguan Condega Visus tobacco with Dominican Visus filler and a dark Mexican binder emphasise the complexity of this blend. Extraordinarily rich and complex notes of dark tobacco, spicy earth and chocolate are rounded out with a mouth-watering caramel sweetness imparted by the fragrant casks keeping the entire smoking experience consistently high quality, which is what we would expect from ultra-premium cigars.

Reflecting Sir Winston Churchill’s darkest hours where he was most productive and creative, Davidoff has wrapped this stunning blend in an oily Habano Ecuador which holds a dark chocolate colour.

Churchill was a gift giver – he was known to love giving away his cigars to people as a sign of friendship and trust. In 1941, he had the Foreign Secretary awoken at 4:00 am to impart the news on the war and to gift him a cigar on a silver tray, instilling that surely the ultimate accolade is the gift of a cigar.

To accompany the cigar, Davidoff has created a range of accessories to complement the stogie. They have created an extraordinary cigar liquor glass that had notches for holding the cigar, and a very subtle emblem of Churchill himself places at the bottom. The glass is mouth-blown by a European glassware expert company with 120 years of experience in the craft.

The range also includes four new humidors in two designs. ‘The London’ and ‘The Union Jack’ humidors are each offered in either the Ambassador 70-90 cigars or Primos 25-35 cigar hold.
