The Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 series is an ingenious blend of tobaccos from around the new world, bound by a 12 year old Honduran Broadleaf wrapper that has dulled in strength whilst it has aged yet grown in complexity and flavour. The cigar is perhaps a lot milder than one would expect from a Rocky Patel cigar, with a nutty, caramel taste. This Robusto is renowned the world over for its excellent draw and balance of flavours, with a rating of 92/100.

Ross –
I’ve popped to the Havana house to relax with a coffee to smoke this after a solid brunch, the dark wrapper makes me think it’s best not to smoke this without a meal beforehand despite its size, 6 inches box pressed 50 ring gauge. I have smoked one before and remembered it is relatively punchy. The first couple of draws are quite sharp but thankfully it does mellow once going. I do remember it being quite nutty last time but this one seems a bit more oily and leathery. It might be down to being slightly younger or more humid I’m not sure. After 20 minutes odd, just over half way it did go out after not being smoked for less than a minute which was odd but this is the only time that happened with the few of this cigar I’ve smoked to it might just have been a gust of wind from the door opening and closing! The ash has held well which does add a nice feel to the smoke. It has intensified nicely towards the end with rather a blunt flavour so is definitely one for a certain palate, so I think I will definitely smoke this again but I’ll have to be in a certain mood for it.
